2. What personal data do we collect?
When you use our app or website, we process the following data:
- Account data: Username, email address, and an encrypted (hashed) password.
- Profile data: Optional profile pictures you choose to upload.
- Collection data: The video games, board games, and other items you add to your collection, including your personal notes, loan statuses, and ratings.
- Linked accounts: If you choose to link your Steam account, we store your steam_id and process data regarding your Steam library (which games you own) via the official Steam API.
3. Why do we collect this data?
We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:
- To provide the service: So you can log in, manage your collection, and securely store your data in the cloud.
- Steam Integration: To automatically synchronize your PC games if your Steam account is linked.
- Communication: To assist you with password recovery or support requests. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
4. How we share your data
We never sell your personal data to third parties. We only share your data when strictly necessary for the functioning of the app:
- Hosting: Our database and API are hosted by our own server. So we ourselves act as a data processor and securely store the data.
- Steam: When you log in via Steam, you are redirected to the secure environment of Valve Corporation. We only receive your public Steam ID and the games in your library; we never see or store your Steam login credentials.
5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account remains active with Ultimate Collector. If you decide to delete your account, all your personal data (including your collection and profile picture) will be permanently and irreversibly erased from our database.
6. Security of your data
We take the security of your data seriously. We use HTTPS encryption for all communication between the app and our servers. Passwords are never stored in plain text and are secured using strong cryptographic hashing algorithms.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
Under European privacy legislation, you have several rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: You may request to see what personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You can directly update your email address and profile data within the app.
- Right to erasure (right to be forgotten): You can request that we completely delete your account and all associated data.
- Right to data portability: You have the right to request your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format (such as JSON).
